Deputy shoots suspect when trying to serve warrant in Barrow County

The following was released today by the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office

An officer-involved shooting occurred this morning while Barrow County Sheriff’s Office deputies were serving a warrant in the area of 546 Mt. Moriah Road in Auburn.

At approximately 10:00 a.m., deputies were on scene to serve a warrant when an officer-involved shooting took place. During the incident, one suspect was injured and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No deputies were injured.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the District Attorney’s Office have been notified and will be conducting an independent investigation, as is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released as it become available.
