Downtown Athens shooter charged with jailhouse assault

The woman who was arrested for a shooting in downtown Athens last month that injured three teenagers is now facing additional charges following an altercation with a fellow prisoner at the county jail.

Tatianna Wilbon was arrested on multiple counts of aggravated assault for the September 28th shooting on East Clayton Street that injured the girls ages 14 and 15. Police said the shooting happened as officers were dispersing a crowd of people who had been fighting.

Then on October 1st Wilbon was charged with battery and rioting in a penal institution for an incident at the Clarke County Jail.

According to the arrest warrant, Wilbon “did intentionally cause physical harm to Timia Cobbs by striking her repeatedly in the face and head, causing cuts to her ear and lip and a bloody nose,”

Cobbs is in jail as the alleged accomplice in a 2024 gang-related murder,
