Dump truck crashes into Bethlehem gas station

The following was released today by the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office:

(Bethlehem) – On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at approximately 9:15 a.m., the Barrow County

Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a dump truck at the Super H gas

station located at 752 Christmas Avenue.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the dump truck experienced an apparent mechanical

issue while traveling in the area. According to the driver, the vehicle lost power, causing him to

lose the ability to properly steer and stop the vehicle. The dump truck subsequently struck a

utility pole before continuing into the Super H building.

A store clerk who was inside the building at the time of the collision sustained minor injuries and

was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the dump truck sustained minor

scratches to his hand.

Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) was notified and is assisting with the investigation

involving the commercial vehicle.

Georgia Power was also notified and responded to the scene due to damage sustained to the

utility pole.

The Sheriff’s Office and utility crews remain in the area working to ensure the scene is safe.

Motorists and members of the public are asked to use caution when traveling through the area

and to avoid the immediate scene when possible.

The incident remains under investigation.
