Fatal Crash in Winder

On Monday there was a fatal crash at the intersection of Atlanta Highway and Jackson Trail Road in Winder. The Georgia State Patrol investigation revealed that Michael Pietrocola of  Winder was traveling northbound on Jackson Trail Road approaching the intersection with Atlanta Highway when Pietrocola failed to yield to an oncoming minivan driven by Mark Gibson of Watkinsville traveling eastbound in the left lane of Atlanta Highway.

Pietrocola's Kia Soul pulled into the path of Gibson's Chrysler Town & Country minivan.  The Chrysler van struck the driver’s side of the Kia Soul with its front end.  Mr. Pietrocola was pronounced dead on the scene.  Gibson did not receive any injuries.
