Mississippi woman indicted for leading police on chase while high and with child in car

A 38-year-old Mississippi woman has been indicted for leading police on a high-speed chase while her child was in the car.

Crystal Jean Bloodworth of Jackson, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, felony fleeing from police, and endangering the life of a child, according to the indictment filed this week in Superior Court.

The incident happened in March of this year, but the Athens-Clarke County police officials claims they are prevented by law from releasing the incident report because it involves a charge of first-degree cruelty to a child.

However, the following facts are contained in the arrest warrants:

The incident happened early in the morning of March 6th when Bloodworth fled from an attempted traffic stop, and during a high-speed chase, the woman drove recklessly while committing numerous traffic violations that included running stop signs and red lights and continued fleeing even after her car lost a front tire.

The child who was lying on clothing in the back seat was under five years old.

Evidence of drug use found in the car included a cut straw, hypodermic needle, and a metal smoking pipe.

It’s not explained in the warrants how police determined that she had been under the influence of multiple substances.

Bloodworth today remains in prettial detention without bail while awaiting arraignment, has not been scheduled,
