Former Comer Police Chief Murray dies

Walter D. Murray, who served as chief of the Comer Police Department and a Madison County sheriff's deputy, has died.

His passing was announced Monday night on CPD's Facebook page by the city's current police chief, Dennis Bell.

Murray also assisted at Comer Elementary School as its traffic director.

"Walt was a valued member of this community and our department," Bell said in his Facebook post. "Please lift his two boys, John " Robbie" and James, up in prayer.

Funeral arrangements have yet to be released.
