Foul play not suspected in death of man found in North Oconee River

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department said there were was no evidence to suggest that the death of 62-year-old James Russell Seay was at the hands of another.

The homeless man's body was found Sunday afternoon in about five feet of water in the North Oconee River near North Avenue and Willow Street.

"At the present time no foul play is suspected," ACCPD said in a Tuesday news release.

Seay's body was transported to be autopsied at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's State Crime Lab.
