A 9-year-old boy reported that another juvenile pointed a gun at him last week at a westside apartment complex, according to an Athens-Clarke County police report.
The incident was reported at 12:49 p.m. Friday by the boy's mother, who said she sent her son to check the mail at University Oaks Apartments, but he came running back home and told her that a slightly-older boy he met at the mailboxes in the apartment complex that is located off West Broad Street, pulled the gun from a book bag and pointed it at him, according to the report.
The boy said that when he went to the mailboxes, he saw some other kids there.
“They showed him a gun in a book bag and he told them it wasn’t real,” according to the police report. “The kids then took the gun out of the bag, showed him the bullets and pointed it at him. The woman said that her son had been getting bullied and that “this is an ongoing issue," the report noted.
The boy said that immediately after the incident, the suspect and the other juveniles ran into the 500 building, according to the report, which noted that the boy could not provide further information about the juveniles.
