A homeless woman was arrested on a first-degree burglary charge after she entered a University of Georgia student’s apartment and stole food.

It happened on the morning of June 7th at Woodlands of Athens on Barnett Shoals Road when the 22-year-old UGA student was wakened by someone making noise downstairs.

Upon investigating he found 33-year-old Brittani Clark in the kitchen, claiming that she had permission to take out his trash.

She grabbed some items that included eggs, jam and Hawaiian rolls and ran out the back door.

The student called 911 and police found Clark on Barnett Shoals Road and arrested her.

A report of the incident notes that earlier that day police had received “multiple calls about Clark attempting to enter people’s homes and digging through trash cans.”

Court records show that the woman has an extensive criminal history and currently has 10 cases pending in State Court.

The day after Clark was arrested a Magistrate Court judge granted her $500 bail, but as of Friday morning she was still listed as a prisoner at the county jail.
