One person reportedly died Thursday morning in a house fire in the Barrow County town of Bethlehem.
According to Barrow County Emergency Services Capt. Scott Dakin, firefighters were responding to an unrelated call soon after 8:30 a.m. when they were redirected to a reported structure fire in the 500 block of Tanners Bridge Circle in Bethlehem.
"They diverted to this call as there was a report of a person trapped in the fire," said Dakin, BCES's public information officer.
The first fire crews on the scene found a two-story residence with heavy fire throughout, and flames shooting through the roof, Dakin said. so they fought the fire from a defensive position.
One resident told firefighters that her son was still inside the home, the official said.
"They were able to quickly bring the fire under control,"Dakin said. "However, Amir Rohoman, a 22-year-old male, passed away as a result of this fire.”As of Thursday evening, the cause of the fire was listed as undetermined and it continued to be under investigation.
Wow. Prayers for this family. I can't think of a worse way to go.
