Body found in North Oconee River identified

By Joe Johnson

A body that was found in the North Oconee River last week has been identified as that of 35-year-old Anthony Antwon Milsap of Athens, Clarke County Coroner said Thursday afternoon.

Positive identification of the badly-decomposed body was made through fingerprint comparisons at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's State Crime Lab, Wilson said.

There were no signs of foul play and Milsap's death was ruled an accidental drowning, according to Wilson.

The coroner said Milsap had an address on Hickman Drive and that he had not been reported missing.

His body was spotted in the water near North Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway by a bicyclist the afternoon of Aug. 18.
