A body was found Tuesday afternoon in the North Oconee River, Athens-Clarke County police said.
The decomposed body was spotted floating face down in the water near North Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway by someone who notified police at 1:47 p.m., according to police.
Detectives on Wednesday were in the process of identifying the body and determining the circumstances surrounding the death, police said.
There reportedly were no obvious signs of trauma or criminal activity.
