Two purported female gang members this week were indicted for a robbery that occurred two months ago, according to court records.

Adriana Vanessa Martinez, 21, and her sister, 18-year-old Angelica Roxanna Martinez, both of Chalfont Lane, were each charged with robbery by force and violating the Georgia Street Gang and Terrorism Prevention Act, according to the indictment that was filed Tuesday in Clarke County Superior Court.

The sisters were arrested on warrants by Athens-Clarke County police on Nov. 13.

Neither the indictment nor the police arrest report indicated their alleged gang affiliation.

However, when granting Angelica Martinez a $7,500 good security bond on Dec. 4, Judge Eric Norris ordered her to have no contact with known members of the Eight Trey Crips gang.

The judge denied Adrianna Martinez's motion for bond on grounds she would likely commit a felony and it was unknown whether she would pose a risk to the community or witnesses while awaiting trial, according to the judge’s order.

The Martinez sisters are both scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 17.
