A purported gang member this week allegedly assaulted a teen during a burglary of a home in east Athens, according to an Athens-Clarke County police report.
The 17-year-old victim said he was at The Block on Nellie B Avenue Sunday afternoon when he noticed a gang member whose nickname was “Fat,” with whom he had been in a previous conflict concerning a bicycle, according to the report.
When the victim realized that Fat had seen him, so he went to an aunt’s house on Cone Drive to call his grandmother to come pick him up, according to the report.
The victim said that as he was going down the stairs inside the home Fat had entered and was climbing up the stairs and asked the victim where his money was, according to police.
The pair began to fight and Fat reportedly punched the victim’s face several time, the took the victim’s blue Air Jordan athletic shoes, a cellphone, a lighter and headphones with a total value of $227, according to the report.
The report noted that the victim last saw Fat running toward Zebulon Drive.
The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of swelling in the forehead area, according to the report.
Fat was described by the victim as a black male who was wearing a black shirt, black, possibly Adidas, jogging pants and black Ugg-style boots, according to the report.
The incident reportedly happened a few days after when Fat and other gang member jumped the victim.
