The Georgia Bureau of Investigation this week confirmed a body that was found two weeks ago was that of a Winder man who had been missing since mid-September.
The body of25-year-old Andrew Nicholas House was found Oct. 2, floating in a pond off Booth Circle in Winder, according to Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith.
Smith said an immediate identification could not be made because the body had been in the water for a prolonged time.
House's body was positively identified by forensics personnel at the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur, GBI spokeswoman Natalie Ammons said on Wednesday.
"The cause and manner of death is still pending Crime Lab tests, but foul play is not suspected at this time,"Ammons said.
The Barrow County Sheriff's Office on Sept. 18 issued a lookout for House, who had been reported missing by his father two days earlier.
House reportedly was last seen Sept. 16, near a gas station at the intersection of state highways 82 and 211, less than a mile from the pond where his body was found.
