Police believe two Athens teens shot by one person

By Joe Johnson

Athens-Clarke County police on Wednesday continued to investigate a weekend shooting in an east Athens neighborhood in which two teens were wounded.

“At this time there is no suspect,” Lt. Shaun Barnett said. “However, investigators believe that they are looking for a single shooter.

“Detectives are still working to identify a suspect and determine a motive,” he said.

According to police, officers on Sunday responded to the area of Crows Nest Court off Cedar Shoals Drive regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Police identified the victims as Jeffery Thorpe and Jaden Williams, both 18.

They were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and both were believed by police to have since been discharged.

Officers determined that the shooting occurred several blocks away, in the 100 block of Highland Park Drive, also located off Cedar Shoals Drive.

Police asked for anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Detective Paul Johnson at paul.johnson@accgov.com or (762) 400-7060.
