Two shot in Jackson County, suspect in custody

A man was arrested Friday afternoon by Jackson County deputies for allegedly shooting two other men in the city ofJefferson, according to the spokeswoman for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which assisted in the investigation.

GBI Direcor of Public Affairs Nelly Miles stated Friday evening that Jackson County deputies responded at about 1:40 p.m. to a 911 call reporting a shooting at 4575 S. Apple Valley Road in Jefferson

"The person calling 911 stated two people had been shot," Miles said.

The victims were located at the reporting location and transported to area hospitals, according to Miles.

Shortly after the incident, deputies identified and located the suspected shooter, Christopher Thomas, 32, of Jefferson.

He was taken into custody without incident and was being detained at the Jackson County Jail.

Miles did not release a motive for the double-shooting or disclose the victms' identities or the severity of their injuries.
