UGA sorority targeted with lewd photos

By Joe Johnson

Authorities are investigating the recent harassment of members of a University of Georgia sorority who received images of nudity via social media, UGA police said.

The chapter advisor of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority reported on Sunday that someone used a fraudulent Instagram account to transmit “ a photo which depicted nudity of an unknown adult with the intent of harassing members of the sorority,” according to a UGA police incident report.

Several members who live at the sorority house on South Milledge Avenue received the lewd image via text messages between 11 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday, according to the report.

The report noted that the chapter advisor also reported that someone tried to hack sorority members’ email accounts.

The incidents were also reported to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, according to the report.
