Woman reports being sexually assaulted by Athens masseur

By Joe Johnson

Athens-Clarke County police said they were investigating a woman’s report that she was sexually assaulted by a masseur at a local establishment.

The 34-year-old woman reported on Tuesday that she had been assaulted on Aug. 22 at a location that was redacted from a police incident report.

“This case involves a former employee of a business that had reportedly inappropriately touched clients during massages, said Sgt. John Q. Williams, acting public information officer for the police department.

The police report indicates that the alleged incident was being investigated as an aggravated sexual battery.

State law states that “a person commits the offense of aggravated sexual battery when he or she intentionally penetrates with a foreign object the sexual organ or anus of another person without the consent of that person.”

The suspect in the case is listed in the police report as a 28-year-old white male.

Williams said that anyone who was similarly victimized should contact Detective Rick Dearing at 762-400-7174.
