Interim Whit Davis Elementary School leadership appointed

Released by the Clarke County School District:

Clarke County School District Superintendent Dr. Robbie Hooker today announced

the appointments of Dr. Katie Hanks as interim principal and Dr. Mollie Schubach as interim assistant

principal of Whit Davis Elementary School for the 2025-26 school year. The appointments become

effective July 1.

Dr. Hanks will replace outgoing principal Latinda Dean, who is transitioning to a role as an assistant

principal at Cedar Shoals High School. She has been assistant principal at Whit Davis since 2021.

“I want to thank Ms. Dean for the work she has done at Whit Davis. I appreciate her dedication and

commitment to excellence and am excited to see the great things she will accomplish in her new role at

Cedar Shoals,” said Dr. Hooker.

“Dr. Hanks’ familiarity with the staff, students, and community will allowus to maintain continuity and will set the stage for a successful school year.”

Dr. Hanks first joined CCSD in 2018 and served three years as a special education coordinator before

making the move to Whit Davis. In her 12 years in education prior to coming to Clarke County, she

worked in various teaching roles at West Jackson Middle School, Kings Bridge Middle School, East

Jackson Middle School, East Jackson Comprehensive High School, and Oconee County Middle School.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education, a master’s in Secondary English Education, and a doctorate in Educational Administration and Policy, all from the University of Georgia.

“Whit Davis Elementary School is a special place with a dynamic staff that is committed to student

success,” said Dr. Hanks.

“I am excited and honored for the opportunity to lead and serve in the Whit Davis community, and I look forward to all that we can accomplish together.”

Dr. Schubach is a CCSD alum, having graduated from Clarke Central High School. She first joined the

district in a professional capacity in 2017 as an English Language Arts teacher at Clarke Middle Schooland has been an instructional coach at CMS since 2021. That work led to her being named the school’s Support Professional of the Year for the 2024-25 school year. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management, a master’s in Middle Grades Education, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership, all from the University of Georgia.

“I am thrilled to join the Whit Davis community as interim assistant principal,” said Dr. Schubach.

“I am passionate about the work we do in CCSD, and I feel honored to continue my journey at Whit Davis. I am bringing enthusiasm, excitement, and positive energy into this new role, and I can't wait to get to work. See you soon, Wildcats!”
