Jackson County man charged with ramming police cars

By Joe Johnson

A 39-year-old Jefferson man was arrested on Monday after he reportedly rammed police patrol cars in Hall County.

At about 9 p.m., Gainesville police responded to Browns Bridge Road and Pearl Nix Parkway to investigate reports of a white Dodge Charger that was sitting in the middle of the road. Callers told 911 dispatchers they concerned for the driver’s well-being.

When officers tried speaking with the driver, identified as James Edward Harrison, police say he was non-compliant, ignoring their commands.

As the officers continued trying to get him to comply, police said, Harrison put his car in gear and rammed two patrol cars.

Gainesville police said that officers used a Taser on Harrison, he was removed from the vehicle and arrested on four counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, possession of methamphetamine, and obstruction.

Harrison was booked into the Hall County Jail after a brief stop at a hospital.
