A Madison County woman was recently arrested in connection with a fatal head on collision in Athens two months ago.
Keosha Laricka Martin, 38, of Watson Drive in Hull was charged with second-degree homicide by vehicle and failure to maintain lane for the June 17 collision that killed 70-year-old Linda Motichek of Winterville.
An investigation by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department’s Traffic Unit determined that Martin was driving a 2006 Honda Accord north in the 1700 block of Cherokee Road when the car crossed the center line and crashed into Motichek’s southbound 1999 Toyota Corolla.
Motichek died at the scene, according to police, and Martin was transported to the hospital with multiple injuries; A juvenile in Martin’s car was also transported for evaluation.
After warrants for Martin’s arrest were issued, the woman surrendered herself at the Clarke County Jail on July 31 and she was released the same day upon posting a $5,750 property bond.

My Mother is the driver that was killed instantly on her way to get a biscuit from Bojangles.
Can you believe that her defense is that my Mama’s head was already on the steering wheel when she hit her?? She told me this in a text message, when I reached out to her to see if she was remorseful.
BS. Mama was on the right side of the road, she wasn’t and there were NO skid marks which say, neither saw it coming. The police report clearly states she was on her cellphone and that was a charge and it’s since been removed.
From the police report.
Operator Factors: Wrong Side of Road, Talking on Hand-Held Device (Distracted)
.Martin stated…
Distracted driver. Wonder if a cell phone was in use. My condolences to Mrs. Moticheks family and friends
Exactly and this woman is a dear friend of mines mother. She and her family are devastated
Is it not weird to anyone else how you can kill someone in a car accident, due to negligence, and not really get punished?
