Man arrested after calling downtown Athens cop “piggy”

Jalen Hayes Bonds, 28, of Cedar Rock Trace was arrested early the morning of July 25th after calling a police officer a pig.

The officer reported that he was on bicycle patrol on East Clayton Street when Bonds called out to him from a bar’s beer garden, saying, “here piggy, piggy” and asked if he wanted some water.

“He then directed fighting words at me, stating ‘I will beat your ass,’” the officer further reported.

The officer said that he tried moving Bonds away from his friends and out of the beer garden in order to speak, but ended up arresting him for disorderly conduct when he tried walking away.
