Man charged with assault for severely beating his mother

The following was released this afternoon by the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office:

 On Saturday, September 13, 2025, at approximately 11:22 p.m., the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located at

261 Tanners Bridge Road for a welfare check.

Deputies were requested to check on the well-being of Lillie Armour, 75, after family members reported they had not heard from her. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Dexter Armour at the front door. Armour became aggressive towards deputies, leading to a brief struggle before he was detained.

Once inside the residence, deputies located Ms. Armour, who appeared to have been severely

beaten and was unable to open the door to reach responders.

Dexter Armour, 51, was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Barrow County

Detention Center. He has been charged with three counts of willful obstruction and aggravated

assault, with additional charges pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. Additional details will be released as they become

available.

A BCSO spokesman said that Lillie Armour was hospitalized but was not able to comment further,
