A Clarke County grand jury this week indicted a Winterville man for allegedly injuring a woman when he shot up her home in east Athens earlier this month.
Adam J. Conerly, 31, of Bristlecone Court was charged with aggravated assault, two counts of felony criminal damage to property and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to the indictment that was filed Sept. 24 in Clarke County Superior Court.
The incident occurred Sept. 5 at the Hallmark Estates mobile home park off Spring Valley Road where Athens-Clarke County police said Conerly fired multiple gunshots into the victim’s trailer. One of the bullets lodged in the victim’s arm, the indictment states.
Police said that witnesses helped them to identify Conerly as the shooter, and he was subsequently arrested on warrants at his home.
Police did not disclose what the motive of the shooting was.
The two counts of criminal damage stemmed from the victim’s trailer being shot up and a vehicle belonging to another woman being damaged by gunfire.
Conerly was being held without bail at the Clarke County Jail.
An arraignment on the indictment had yet to be scheduled as of Thursday.
