A Barrow County man reportedly was killed in Athens Sunday night when he crashed his motorcycle on the Epps Bridge flyover ramp and he and his vehicle fell to Atlanta Highway below.

According to Athens-Clarke County police, 21-year-old Marlon Rosales of Bethlehem was riding a 2021 Yamaha MT-03 on the Epps Bridge Parkway flyover ramp at about 9:30 p.m. when the motorcycle left the travel lane and struck the concrete bridge guardrail.

Police said both the motorcycle and its rider went over the guardrail and left the bridge, before landing along the eastbound shoulder of Atlanta Highway.

Rosales died at the scene, police said.

An investigation was ongoing, and police asked for anyone who might have witnessed the crash to contact Senior Police Officer Shawn Denmark at (762) 400-7364 or shawn.denmark@accgov.com.

The incident involved the 23rd traffic fatality this year in Athens-Clarke County.
