After the gangsters pistol-whipped him, the 22-year-old victim either fell or jumped to his death from a balcony trying to escape his attackers.
Details of that tragic night are found in recently filled search warrants for gang member social media accounts.
According to the documents, on the night of November 6, 2025, Jewell and others were attending a gambling event at The View at NoDa apartments. Another of the attendees was identified by police as Demetrius Sanders.
The get-together had been organized through a weeks-long Instagram group chat.
“While Jewell was playing dice multiple people in the apartment pulled firearms , a detective’s affidavit says. “One subject pointed an AR-15 style pistol at Sanders and Sanders was robbed of his firearm.”
When Jewell ran towards a balcony, several of the armed robbers chased after, and Jewell either fell off the balcony or jumped off the balcony, resulting in his death.”
Police later identified the armed robbers as members of a subgroup of the Bloods street gang called Sex, Money, Murder.
Six alleged SSM members were arrested and subsequently charged in a nine-count indictment,
The charges included felony murder because Jewell was killed during an armed robbery.
Jewell had been a popular student and athlete at Clarke Central High School, which hosted the funeral for its fallen alumnus.
