Death of scientist at his home in Athens under investigation

An autopsy has been ordered for the unexplained death of a 50-year-old man who died in his apartment on Prince Avenue.
Ryan Canolty’s death was reported the morning of April 15 by his elderly mother.
A responding police officer reported that “after a few basic preliminary questions,” the Criminal Investigations Division was contacted and detectives responded to the scene.
“This is an ongoing investigation,” said Lt. Katie Jenkins on Monday. “Mr. Canolty went for an autopsy, and the results are still pending.”
According to his LinkedIn profile, Canolty was a neuroscience data scientist who had a company called NextLifeAI.
He was a graduate of the University of Georgia with a doctorate in philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley.
Canolty had also been a research scientist in computational neuroscience at Vanderbilt and York universities, his profile shows.
