One person shot at westside Athens gas station

Athens-Clarke County police reportedly were investigating a shooting that occurred late Saturday afternoon and injured one person outside of the Shell gas station on Tallassee Road.

"There is very limited information as this incident is still very fresh," police Lt. Shaun Barnett said, "I can confirm that officers are on scene investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m.," he said. " Initial information indicates that there is one male that was shot. That individual was transported by EMS to a local hospital."

"I do not have any details about his injuries or condition," Barnett, ACCPD's public information officer said shortly after 7 p.m.

"The suspect is unknown at this time," he said.
