Patient assaults hospital emergency room worker

By Joe Johnson

Samuel Lee Fowler, 27, of Statham, was recently arrested for assaulting an emergency room technician at St. Mary’s Hospital.

When in the emergency room for treatment on the night of September 6th Fowler was said by police to have been “belligerent, combative and under the influence of intoxicants.”

After being punched by him the technician declined to press charges and the hospital only sought to have Fowler barred.

Three days later, however, and due to continuing pain, the employee changed her mind.

A police officer responded to the hospital, reviewed surveillance footage of the incident, and took out a warrant charging Fowler with simple battery.

Fowler was arrested on September 12th, posted bail the following day and has a scheduled arraignment date of November 12th.
