Pedestrian killed on Lexington Road

A pedestrian was killed Monday night when struck by a vehicle on Lexington Road in Athens.

The incident happened soon before 8:45 p.m., when the Athens-Clarke County Police Department issued a Nixle “crash advisory” about westbound lanes of the road being closed in the area of the Dollar General at 2194 Lexington Road.

ACCPD confirmed that the incident involved a fatality and it was being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol.
