According to police, it happened at about 10 a.m. at the intersection of North and Strickland avenues, where 53-year-old Dejon Ellis of Athens failed to negotiate a curve and crashed her car into a utility pole. She reportedly died at the scene. The other deadly crash happened at about 6 a.m.

By Joe Johnson Two people were killed and two others were badly injured in a multi-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on the Athens Perimeter, The incident happened at around 12:30 a.m. near Tallassee Road. Firefighters extracted the victims from their vehicles and the two survivors were transported to Piedmont Athens Medical Center. CCN has reached out to the police department seeking details.
