Athens-Clarke County police announced Monday morning that a cash reward is offered for information concerning an armed robbery on Friday night at the north Athens warehouse of an online delivery service.

The robbery occurred around 11:20 p.m. at the goPuff warehouse in the 1900 block of Commerce Road. A pair of masked males armed with handguns forced employees to open a safe. The robbers took phones from employees before fleeing with cash from the safe, according to police.

Jermine Lassiter, who was one of four employees present during the robbery, said more than $7,000 was stolen from the business, an online service that makes home deliveries of convenience store goods from the warehouse.

He said the robbers wrapped shirts around their heads to conceal their faces.

Police said witnesses described the gunmen as a tall slim black male and a shorter, heavy-set black male.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information in this case.

Police asked that anyone with information about the armed robbery contact Detective Paul Johnson at (706) 613-3330, ext. 522 or paul.johnson@accgov.com.

Anonymous calls can be made to Crime Stopper’s confidential tip line at (706) 705-4775.
