Science fact of the day: The Dwarf Mongoose is Africa’s smallest carnivore

Africa’s smallest carnivore is the Dwarf Mongoose.

These tiny predators weigh just 7 – 12 ounces and their average body length is 7 – 11 inches (plus an average tail length of 5.5 – 7.5 inches.)

They eat mostly insects, although they have also been known to consume rodents, reptiles, eggs, and occasionally fruit.
