Science fact of the day: Hummingbirds are territorial

Despite their small size, hummingbirds can be quite territorial and aggressive.

They spend a large amount of time chasing other birds away from the feeders or flowers that they frequent.

They may have evolved to engage in this behavior because their food sources are highly visible, which increases competition with other birds.
