Science fact of the day: Janacas have large feet

While their bodies measure just 6 - 12 inches long (depending on species), when a jacana’s toes and claws are spread out, their feet can cover an area up to 5 x 8 inches!

This allows them to spread their weight over a large area so that they can walk over floating objects like lily pads.
