Science fact of the day: Warthogs don’t build their own homes

Warthogs are native to Africa’s southern Sudan and southwestern Ethiopia.

They live in savanna woodland and grasslands, but they do not build their own homes.

Instead of digging their own burrows, warthogs shelter in abandoned aardvark holes or natural burrows.

Notably, they typically back into their homes so that they can use their sharp tusks to scare off any potential predators or usurpers.
