Second pedestrian struck by car in eastside crosswalk has died

The second pedestrian who was struck by a car Friday night in east Athens has died.

The incident occurred at around 8:40 p.m. when the victims were crossing Gaines School Road in a crosswalk between the Citgo station and McDonald’s.

One of the victims, 58-year-old Amy Morgan died the night of the incident, and Anthony Braxton, 31, later died at the hospital.

The driver, 54-year-old Lois Dua of Bogart was charged Friday night with second-degree homicide by vehicle and one count of failure to yield right of way in a crosswalk.

She is expected to be similarly charged for the second victim’s death.
