The teenaged son of District 3 County Commissioner Tiffany Taylor on Monday remained hospitalized with what police said were injuries he suffered from being shot in his chest.

Jacob Taylor reportedly shot himself accidentally Friday night while attending a birthday party.

Police said they learned about the incident when officers were summoned to the hospital where the 15-year-old victim was being treated for a gunshot wound.

Taylor had been driven to the hospital from a residence on Herman Street that was rented for the birthday party.

The woman who rented the Airbnb reportedly told police that she learned from party attendees that Taylor was upstairs playing with a gun when he accidentally shot himself.

The matter is being investigated by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, which refused to comment beyond what was in the initial incident report.

Gracie Taylor established a fundraiser for her grandson called “Stand with Jacob Taylor through surgeries.”

KIds and guns. A story with no solutions. Yes, the gun belong to WHO at this BIRTHDAY PARTY? Praying for a full recovery for this teenager.

Hopefully the teen will make a full recovery. A loaded firearm in the possession of an unsupervised fifteen year old. What could possibly go wrong?🤦‍♂️

Sorry for the accident. I hope for a full recovery.

Who is responsible for the firearm?

First and foremost, I pray for the recovery of this young man. Wouldn't it be great if his friends somehow learned from this tragedy?
