More than 48 hours have gone by since anyone has seen Kanijah Manuel and her newborn son and their whereabouts remain unknown.
Authorities consider the 24-year-old mother and her child to be “endangered.”
They were last seen at Manuel's home in Winder at around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Capt. Chris Cooper, commanding officer of the Winder Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, said Friday that investigators had not received any leads concerning their whereabouts since an appeal was issued for the public’s help in finding the pair.
Cooper said foul play was not suspected, but there was great concern for the welfare of mother and child because Manuel “has a medical history that is concerning to her family.”
The woman had previously left home without telling anyone, “but no child was involved that time,” Cooper said.
Manuel is 5-foot-4 and weighs 135 pounds. She has dyed blonde hair, brown eyes and glasses, and was last seen wearing a black tank top and plaid pajama pants, and her son was last seen in a baby carrier.
WPD urges anyone who sees Manuel and her child, or knows of their whereabouts, to immediately call 911 or Detective James Schiltz at 770-867-2156.
