Student caused “major disruption” at Clarke Central after threatening a shooting

By Joe Johnson

A 17- year-old student caused what is described by police “a major disruption to the school environment” after threatening to shoot students and staff at Clarke Central High School.

According to police and court records obtained by Classic City News the incident happened during lunchtime on the afternoon of August 11th when Jonathan Lanier Dunn was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, terroristic threats and acts, disrupting the operations of a public school, and felony obstruction of law enforcement.

A school resource officer states in a report that he was on lunch duty when he received notification by radio that Dunn “made several threats of inflicting bodily harm to students and staff alike and was currently in the gym being non-compliant and causing a major disruption to the school environment and operations.”

After he and another officer responded to the gym, “Dunn could be witnessed running around the basketball court avoiding school personnel and cursing as well.”

The student ran up to the upper tier of the gym where he threatened to jump from the top of a railing.

The officers, with the assistance of a female school security guard, were able to detain and place the student under arrest.
