Third victim dies after wrong-way driver crash on Athens Perimeter

Sara Alexis Waldroup this morning passed away from the injuries she suffered in the vehicle collision in which her husband was killed three days earlier.
Her father broke the news in a Facebook post that that “Lexi” and her unborn child had lost their struggle to survive.
Newlyweds Lexi and Soonhoon Choi had been driving on the Athens Perimeter early in the morning of December 21st when their car was struck head-.on by a car that was speeding in wrong direction on the divided highway.
Soonhoon died at the scene as did the other driver, 26-year-old Desiree Browning of Lawrenceville.
Lexi and Soonhoon lived in Athens. She was in her 15th week of pregnancy,
The incident was under investigation by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, which has not yet confirmed social media speculation that Browning had been intoxicated.
A police spokesperson made this statement Thursday morning:
“After investigating, we have a reason to believe that impairment may have played a role in this crash; however, we are awaiting the results from the crime lab.”
