A 21-year-old University of Georgia student reported that he was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday when walking home from the downtown Athens bar district.
According to the report he filed with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department:
The student was walking in the area of Target on East Broad Street shortly before 3 a.m. when a black male accosted him over about something the student had said to him.
While the male argued with the student, who denied having said anything, a second black male emerged from an alley nearby and stuck a gun in the student’s back.
The assailants wanted the student to send them money, and he used the Apple Pay app to send just $25.
He then ran across the street to get away, and when glancing back he saw a female talking to the suspects.
Both suspects were similarly dressed, both wearing black shirts and red pants.
The student said he didn’t make a report until later in the afternoon because he had been drinking and just wanted to get home.
