A Windet woman was killed and three others were injured Wednesday in a two-car collision in Jefferson.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, a Toyota Scion XB and a Ford Fusion were both traveling north on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at about 7:45 p.m. when the Scion, driven by 58-year-old Johnny Tuggle of Winder, slowed to turn into a private driveway when the Fusion, driven by Joshua Weeks, 23, of Jefferson, attempted to pass the Scion in a no-passing zone.
The Scion reportedly struck the back of the Fusion and both vehicles came to a final rest on the west shoulder of the roadway, GSP said.
The front right passenger of the Scion, Tracy Tuggle, 56, of Winder, was pronounced dead at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following the wreck.
A 13-year-old male in the back seat of the Scion sustained serious injuries and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
Johnny Tuggle, the driver of the Scion, reportedly sustained minor injuries and was transported to NGMC, according to the GSP, and Weeks, the driver of the Scion, sustained minor injuries as well.
Charges are pending as GSP's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team investigates the incident.
