Brittany Nicole Wood, 40, of Arnoldsville, was arrested early the morning of August 9th after crashing her SUV while being pursued by police.
The Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office had issued an alert for the woman, advising that she was wanted for aggravated assault following a domestic violence incident in which she ran over her husband.
Police spotted Wood’s SUV at about 12:20 a.m. at a Jefferson Road gas station and when it sped out onto the roadway it traveled south in the northbound lanes with police giving chase.
The vehicle spun out into a ditch when swerving to avoid oncoming traffic, and Wood was arrested at gunpoint and transported by ambulance to the hospital, where she was released into the custody of Oglethorpe deputies.
The Georgia State Patrol responded to investigate the circumstances of the police chase and car wreck. Troopers charged Wood with reckless driving and DUI because she reportedly had taken a quantity of prescription drugs,
