Woman charged with vehicular homicide after striking pedestrians in Athen crosswalk

An Oconee County woman has been charged with vehicular homicide after she struck two pedestrians with her car as they crossed the street in east Athens Friday night.
Lois Dua, 53, of Bogart was charged with second-degree homicide by vehicle and one count of failure to yield right of way in a crosswalk.
The incident occurred at about 8:40 p.m. when two people crossing Gaines School Road were struck by Dylua’s vehicle as they crossed between the street between the Citgo station and McDonald’s.
One of the pedestrians was killed and the other was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The names of the victims and other details concerning the incident have yet to be released by the police.
