A teen from Hart County was arrested Friday for his alleged involvement in the shooting over a month ago at the Nellie B Homes apartment complex that injured the driver of an occupied car, Athens-Clarke County police announced in a Monday morning media release.

Trontaveous Mattox, 18, of Hartwell, was charged with four counts of aggravated assault, according to police.

According to a police report, the shooting occurred at about 12:30 a.m. Sept. 24, when a 19-year-old female with a Hickman Drive address was in her car with three other occupants in the 500 block of East Carver Drive when a dark-colored sedan pulled behind her car and several gunshots were fired from the sedan.

The occupants all ducked, but one of the bullets struck the driver, who police said was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The motive for the shooting continued to be investigated, according to Lt. Shaun Barnett, ACCPD’s public information officer, who said, “Detectives have not ruled out that there are additional suspects but are still working to confirm if anybody else was involved.”

Police asked for anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Sgt. Greg Dickson at (762) 400-7070 or gregory.dickson@accgov.com.
