Two people were killed Wednesday afternoon in an airplane that crashed in Oconee County.
"NTSB and FAA will be arriving tomorrow morning to do their investigation. Until then we are just securing the scene and recovering what we can," Sheriff James Hale said.
According to the sheriff’s office, the plane went down shortly after 3 p.m. in a field off of Government Station Road near Watkinsville.
The aircraft was said to have been enroute to Winder from Florida when air traffic controllers lost sight of it on radar.
