An Athens-Clarke County jury recently awarded over $9 million after finding a gynecologist guilty of malpractice.

The verdict came after a trial last month to decide a complaint filed against Dr. Robert Brian Raymon concerning a medical procedure performed on Beth Dunn in 2022 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.

The lawsuit had been filed against Raybon, a resident of Watkinsville, and his practice, Advanced Gynecology.

Dunn was 77 years old when she underwent a hysterectomy that, the complaint said, “was neither indicated nor justified based on the patient’s history, symptoms and conditions.”

The complaint noted office visits preceding surgery that were not attended by the doctor in which risks and alternatives were discussed with a nurse practitioner and Dunn gave her consent.

The unnecessary procedure caused Dunn to have complications that required multiple hospitalizations, and at the time the lawsuit was filed her medical expenses had exceeded $1.3 million, according to the complaint.

The amount award by the jury was to compensate her for those expenses, and she was additionally awarded for pain and suffering.

Her husband was awarded $1 million for loss of companionship.

Only one clear winner in this case. The lawyers. It is impossible to watch any local TV station without being barraged with ads of some dude standing on top of a t;u;ck wanting to sue the pants off everyone. I think typically their part is about 40%. And you wonder why your Medical and auto insurance is so high.

The article has absolute nothing in common with your MAGAbilly conspiracy about climate control or COVID BS. As usual every road leads to one of you wagons loaded with bull manure.
