Athens man indicted for alleged juvenile rape

An Athens man was indicted last week for allegedly raping a juvenile girl five months ago.

Franklin Villafuerte-Osorio, 25, of Firewood Street was charged with rape, statutory rape, and child molestation, according to the indictment filed Oct. 18 in Athens-Clarke County Superior Court.

According to the redacted indictment, Villafuerte-Osorio had forcible intercourse with a female under 16 years old on May 6 at an undisclosed location.

The ACC Jail website indicates he was arrested on Aug.7, and remained incarcerated without bail as of Tuesday.

He was initially booked into the jail for committing the alleged crimes under the state Family Violence Act, the website notes.

An arraignment date had yet to be scheduled.
